Description
Dr. Johnston’s practicum team focuses on evidence-based treatment of behavior disorders among preschool and elementary school-aged children. Appropriate referrals to the team include children with externalizing problems, such as ADHD or oppositional behavior; internalizing problems, such as selective mutism or phobia; and developmental problems, such as sleep or elimination disorders. Depending on the disorder, treatments might involve work with the parents and/or the child, as well as occasional school consultations. Examples of common treatments include behavioral parent training for oppositional child behavior, cognitive-behavioral treatment for anxiety disorders, and behavioral treatments for feeding or enuresis.
