The Pain Management Clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic that serves patients with complex acute and chronic pain conditions. This practicum is intended for a senior student with a focus on provision of psycho-education, and individual and group cognitive-behavioral interventions in the context of supportive, patient-centered and change-oriented care. Junior students are welcome to apply, though the breadth of practicum activities may be more limited. Learning opportunities are dependent on available cases and may include exposure to pain conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome, phantom limb pain, and somatoform pain disorder, as well as the role of loss and grief in pain perception, PTSD, and consideration of factors such as third-party insurers or workers’ compensation.
